Château de Lamostonie is one of the loveliest Châteaux in the region and is a perfect place for a memorable holiday with family and friends. The Château is approached up a long private drive. It is surrounded by 35 acres of its own land and is let on an exclusive basis, providing complete privacy. Château de Lamostonie has a Rapunzel tower and a Juliet balcony. The mature gardens have sweet-scented roses, lavender and sweeping lawns. The Château is also warm in winter with roaring log fires in the main reception rooms.

Heated Swimming Pool, Flood-lit Tennis Court
The Château has a large heated swimming pool (15m x 6m) with more garden furniture, a barbeque and a pleasant terrace. There is a recently installed flood-lit hard tennis court with racquets and balls provided.

Dining Room, Music Room, Drawing Room, Chapel, Kitchen, Terraces
Inside the Château there is a magnificent dining room with a huge fireplace for log fires and a large table where parties may dine by candle-light. There is a wood panelled music room with a Pleyel grand piano (made in about 1890) and an elegant drawing room. For quiet moments, there is a tiny chapel in the tower, with stained glass windows. The older part of the house has an oak-beamed hall that could be used for larger celebrations, especially in the winter months. It houses a further grand piano and upstairs there is a snug TV room with Video and DVD players. Satellite CNN and BBC World programmes are also available.

There are large new kitchens, fully equipped and with two dishwashers, two ovens and microwaves etc. Although modern, they are in a traditional style, and retain some of the attractive features formerly present such as pretty dressers and a copper hood over the hob. In the kitchen there is an additional table with seating for 6. For those who prefer not to cook, we can arrange for an excellent local chef to prepare your meals.

There are two large terraces, suitable for eating outside, well equipped with garden furniture and easily accessible from the house.

There are 6 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Two of the double bedrooms are arranged as suites with an adjoining dressing room or a room where children may sleep as appropriate. There are 4 single bedrooms and additional shower rooms (one with a sit-in shower). The master double bedroom has a romantic balcony. A service lift provides access to the upper floors for those who prefer not to use the stairs or perhaps for a wheelchair.

Le Pigeonnier
Within the grounds, but set a little way from the Château, is the charming Pigeonnier with its own amenities. This is wonderful for a couple or a young family, sleeping up to 4. The Pigeonnier is let with the Château to provide additional accommodation if required.

Maid service
Maid Service is included three mornings a week to keep the house clean. If you wish to have additional maid service this may be arranged on request to the staff at an hourly rate. If required, we can provide details of local baby-sitters to enable you to make your own arrangements.

The Château is built over a vast stone vaulted cellar in which there is a laundry room, with automatic washing machines.

Telephone calls are metered at cost and a broadband wireless internet connection is available free of charge. A fax machine is provided. A deposit will be requested prior to your holiday. This is fully refundable less any expenses for Telephone, Central heating, or breakages at the end of your holiday.

Christmas and New Year
With its roaring log fires and wonderful views, Château de Lamostonie is a fantastic place to spend Christmas and the New Year.

Weddings and Parties
There are endless possibilities for creating a memorable and romantic celebration at Château de Lamostonie. As far as we can, we shall try to accommodate the individual arrangements you wish to make. The terraces and lawns of the Château are ideal for drinks receptions. In Spring and Summer, you may wish to have a wedding breakfast or birthday meal outside. Tables and marquees may be set up in various places. One particularly idyllic spot for a party is under the shady branches of a large horse-chestnut tree to the south-west of the Château. The dining room comfortably seats fourteen people. For larger parties, the hall in the older part of the house may also be used for dining.

We can assist you with details of appropriate caterers, florists and musicians.

Area description

This un-spoilt and exceptional corner of rural France offers much to do and see. The rolling countryside is perfect for walking and riding, there is easy canoeing on the rivers, and hidden under the earth are some of the largest and most dramatic caves in Europe.

The land is scattered with occasional hilltop 'bastide' towns dating from the 12th century, and fairytale castles from the same era. The area is known as "Aquitaine" and has long historic links to the English Crown through Eleanor of Aquitaine who, in 1152, married Henry Plantagenet, King of England (1154 - 1189). It was their son, Richard the Lionheart (Coeur de Lion) known for his bravery and skill in battle, who, with the aid of his Mother, defeated his Father to claim the English throne.

In spite of the beauty and fascinating history of the region, the chateaux are so lovely that many visitors spend the majority of their holiday enjoying the atmosphere and relaxing, rather than exploring further afield.

Local restaurants serve fresh, delicious and modestly priced French cuisine. The region is known for its paté de foie and rich red wines. Wine tasting and visits to wine cellars are easily arranged.
