Description

Clos de Saveurs has been newly renovated & revitalised taking time & care to retain the traditional charm but adding great attention to detail on colour, interesting furnishings & fabrics. The house is set at the end of a long private driveway with large tranquil grounds providing lots of places to relax and unwind.

The 4 decadent double bedrooms are large & airy & can sleep 3 without any problems. Each bedroom has a luxurious bathroom with deep bath tubs & shower head, sink, WC & heated towel rails. One bedroom is located on the ground floor & the remaining 3 are on the first floor.

The spacious living room is flooded by light from the 2 large French windows & has a superb open fire place and benefits from satellite TV & a music centre, providing the perfect place to relax & unwind. Dinner can be taken inside seated around the large dining table or al fresco in one of the many seating areas dotted around the grounds.

There is a large, well equipped professional kitchen with electric oven/gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, 2 fridges, freezer, toaster, coffee machine & kettle.

The utility room has a washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board.

Swimming Pool
The private pool measures 11m x 5m and is 2m deep & is surrounded by a paved terrace with sun loungers & outside furniture. The pool is fenced and gated. Children's swings and slide in the gardens.

The owners are award winning chef's with over 30 years experience in running their own renowned London restaurants. It is no surprise that they are passionate about imparting their knowledge & skills to guests by offering cookery courses, or simply let them spoil you by having them cater for you and take your taste buds on their own wonderful gastronomic vacation!

Menus to be discussed, minimum of 6 from 75 euros per person to include 4 courses and mineral water, an allowance of one bottle of wine per person. A modern interpretation of French cuisine using only the finest of ingredients.

Area description

Situated near the towns of Monsegur and Duras in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.

The village of Gensac is 1km away, an easy walk aloing the country lane. There are 2 bars, a restaurant, pharmacy, bank/ATM, tabac and a small but comprehensive supermarket. 10 minutes away is the secret garden of Sawday really nice, elevated and with a little cafe.

Exploring the Area
This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France. Bordeaux is approximately an hours drive to the west and Bergerac is 45 minutes to the east, St Emilion 30 minutes north

Monsegur and Duras are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafes, bars and a pizzeria which host's weekly live music.

There is also a cinema in Monsegur, which does show international films in their original language version.The market squares are also hosts the many festivals and events throughout the year.

Wine and Gastronomy
The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateau who offer free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.

Not to be missed is the world famous St Emilion, just a short drive away. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.

Follow Rick Steins French Odyssey (Bordeaux to Bazas) trail across this region and encounter some of the best culinary experiences France has to offer.

Bordeaux
Bordeaux is a designated world heritage site a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafe's, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.

Dordogne
The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Anything from canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river to exploring ancient villages.

Markets
Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts.Both Monsegur and Duras also have night markets during the summer where you can eat and have a drink as well as browse the many stalls.

ACTIVITIES

Cycling
The countryside around our property is perfect for cycling, whether it's just a gentle ride around to explore or, if you are a keen cyclist, a long training ride on fantastic stretches of road to get the blood pumping whilst taking in the fantastic views. Cycle hire is available to your door.

Tennis Courts
Good quality tennis courts are located in Monsegur, Duras & St Sernin de Duras and are usually booked via the local tourist information office.

Canoeing and Kayaking
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it, whilst the large river Garonne (20 minutes away) has a faster pace. The Dordogne river is an hour away which has a faster pace but has plenty of canoe hire opportunities and literally just go with the flow and be picked up further down stream. Of course the easiest way is a boat trip and let some one else do the work.

Beaches
The Atlantic coast, with over 150 miles of golden sandy beaches is less than one and a half hours drive away. Great fun for all the family, simply relax and soak up the sun or try your hand at surfing. Alternatively there are also fresh water lakes with a beach and facilities. The nearest is at Blasimon (about 30 minutes drive) and is very popular with families.

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club.

Zoo & Water park
Zoo de Bordeaux Pessac is approximately an hour drive.
Aqualand water park is approximately 90 minutes drive located at Bassin D'Arcachon.

Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided and are included in the price. Two weeks or more receive a change of linen and towels every week.
