Sunrise is in an acre of garden with a swimming pool. A tranquil location surrounded by fields and woods - ideal for walking, cycling and watching the wildlife and birds. Ideal for sightseeing too.


The restored traditional stone cottage has oak beams, stone walls and original features. The cottage faces south and has a private seating area with garden furniture, at both the front and the side so you can take advantage of the sunshine throughout the day. The cottage includes a barbecue, ideal for for long lunches or dinners al fresco.
The garden and pool are shared with Sunset Cottage.

Sunrise sits in an acre of garden with an above ground pool in the large garden for a refreshing dip on those long, hot summer days. Relax outside with a glass of wine on a warm summer evening and enjoy the spectacular night skies. Surrounded by fields of maize and sunflowers, the cottage is in a rural location with quiet lanes and woods - ideal for walking or cycling to spot the wide variety of wildlife and birds.

You are also perfectly positioned to visit Angouleme, Poitiers, Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, Oradour-sur-Glane, Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), Limoges, Cognac, Bordeaux, La Rochelle and the west coast sandy beaches.

Sunrise cottage is at the end of the property, with our house in the middle and another holiday cottage (Sunset) at the other end. The cottage sleeps up to 5 in two bedrooms - one double and a second room with three single beds in.

There is a lounge diner, a well equipped kitchen (gas cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, toaster) plus a shower room. Included in your stay is English satellite TV, unlimited broadband with WiFi and a food selection of books, CDs and DVDs for you to enjoy.

Included as well in the rental is bed linen, kitchen linen and towels, however you will need to bring your own beach / pool towels.

We provide a Welcome Basket with the basics for you when you arrive, and are happy to shop for you too if required, so you can start relaxing straight away when you get to Sunrise Cottage.

There are a selection of bicycles available to cycle along the local lanes.

We also welcome dogs and cats - if you would like to bring one to the cottage please put this in the notes on the booking form.

The cottages are available to book in units of a week which run from Saturday to Saturday. We take long weekend and mid week bookings out of season from October to March or low season if available. The cottages are also available for winter lets or house hunting trips.

Area description

Sunrise is a short distance from the historic village of Verteuil-sur-Charente, in the sunny department of Charente. The stunning chateau in Verteuil, with it's fairytale turrets, towers over the village.

Terms and conditions

1. Reservations will be confirmed upon receipt of a deposit of £100, together with the booking form signed by the applicant, who will sign on behalf of all persons who will occupy the property during the holiday.

2. Payment of the balance of the total cost of the holiday booking is due 8 weeks before the date of holiday
commencement. Failure to ensure that payment is made by this date may result in the cancellation of the holiday.

3. The holiday maker undertakes to keep the cottage & all furniture, fixtures, fittings & facilities in their accommodation & on the site in the same state of repair & condition as at the commencement of the holiday & also undertake to leave their accommodation in the same state of cleanliness & order as when they arrived.

4. A security deposit of £100 (or the equivalent of one months rent for bookings of one month or more) is payable either with the final balance payment or on arrival in euros. This is to cover any breakages or damage that may occur during your stay. The deposit will be returned to you after your holiday. At the end of the holiday the accommodation will be inspected. The cost of any significant breakage's or damage will be deducted from the deposit the remainder being returned within a week of departure.

5. The owners will not be liable to the holiday maker for any loss or damage to their personal property. It is the holiday makers responsibility to ensure that they have adequate insurance in place.

6. The owners or their representative are to be allowed access to the cottage at any reasonable time.

7. The number of persons using the accommodation is not to exceed the maximum number stated on the booking form.

8. In the event of you cancelling your holiday within 8 weeks of commencement you are still liable for the full cost. In such cases we will make every effort to re-let your accommodation. If successful a refund of monies, less deposit, will be returned. We recommend you consider some form of travel or holiday insurance to cover this.

9. The owners reserve the right to cancel any booking already made should the property become unavailable for some reason beyond our control. A full refund of monies would be made in these circumstances but the owners are under no liability.

10. We ask you not to smoke in the cottage. Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside

11. Pets are welcome but please clean up after them in consideration of future guests.

12. The holiday rental period shall begin at 3 p.m. on the first day and the property must be vacated by 10 a.m. on the last day.
