Located in the foothills of the Cévennes mountains, the Chateau de Mazelle is a large chateau for those who appreciate absolute peace and tranquillity. Here you can experience French rural life at its best.

Situated in an idyllic spot, 10 minutes from the nearest village, this 19th century chateau provides the perfect getaway for holidays, retreats, and artists workshops. The chateau comfortably sleeps 20 in 11 luxury bedrooms.

Chateau de Mazelle

Chateau de Mazelle has been lovingly decorated to maintain the air of a 19th century castle. Every room features individual touches which complement the style of the chateau, and you cannot help but be impressed by the stunning views which greet you from almost every aspect.

The main house offers a rustic elegance and comfort on a grand scale including three reception rooms, a yoga/seminar hall, two fully-equipped kitchens, 11 double bedrooms (9 doubles & 2 twins) and 6 bathrooms & WCs. A floor plan can be seen in the last 2 photos of the selection.

Outside

Outside there are dining terraces, many of which are covered to offer shade from the beautiful Languedoc sun. The 21m private, secure swimming pool affords beautiful views across the valley, and is particularly attractive when flodlit at night. Dine out on the terrace and admire the magnificent Cevennes, or climb the tower and marvel at the 360 degree view.

The Chateau de Mazelle is located in the foothills of the Cevennes mountains, near to the medieval village of Banne. Banne hosts an art festival during the summer and is a meeting point for various guided hikes.

Grab a map from the living room and set off into nature. Here on the edge of the Cevennes National Park there’s so much to explore, including forests, rivers and viaducts. Take a 25 minute walk downhill to Banne, or visit the nearby deep caves and grottos of la Cocalliere. Swim in our new 21 metre pool or take a short drive to an idyllic swimming hole, complete with enormous rocks and a waterfall.

Biking in the Cevennes means miles of unspoiled scenery, wildflowers, wildlife, and few human encounters. The Ardèche river with its famous Pont d'Arc is a short drive away, and it is easy to rent canoes and spend the day floating down the river or sun bathing on the shores. There are tennis courts in St. Paul le Jeune and les Vans.

One of the most stunning architectural features in the area is the magnificent Pont du Gard. The Pont du Gard was built shortly before the Christian era to allow the aqueduct of Nîmes (which is almost 50 km long) to cross the Gard river. The Roman architects and hydraulic engineers who designed this bridge, which stands almost 50m high, created a technical and artistic masterpiece.

Uzes is a popular market town. Between Nimes and Avignon, this discreet but elegant town is a rare find. Market day is Saturday. Don’t miss it!

Also well worth visiting is the beautiful walled city of Avignon, where you can learn about the history of the Papacy in France or explore its elegant shops. For lunch head north to Chateauneuf-du-Pape, home to the finest wines of the Rhone valley.

Linen & towels are included in the rental charges, although there is a limited supply of beach towels.

Energy costs included in the rental price.

End of stay cleaning is charged at 16 Euro's per person regardless of age, with a minimum charge of 160 Euro's. If you would like to arrange additional cleaning during the week our cleaners are available at 16 Euro's per hour. Please leave the property in the condition that you found it.

No pets allowed.

No smoking in the property.

There is a security deposit of €1000. This is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.

It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.
