Description

This is no ordinary 13th Century village house! An ancient village home owned by a contemporary artist and professor of Beaux Arts, who has now left her marks on nearly every interior surface. Located on Francescas "royal road" this creative retreat is a perfect place to immerse yourself in French life.

The House
This beautiful 13th Century village house has a living room which features a traditional large fireplace and eclectic comfortable furnishings.

Just beyond is the kitchen, painted with the artist's marvellous murals of food and drink, and her original ceramic floor mosaics. There is a gas stove, refrigerator and contemporary lighting. Through the glass door is a raspberry coloured utility room with a washing machine. This opens into the bathroom which has a sink, toilet and shower.

Step through French doors out onto a charming courtyard garden, inviting lunch al fresco and the quiet of a evening amidst flowers, herbs and twittering birds.

Ascending the stairway to the sleeping chambers is an important mural tree of life and a painted aviary of colourful birds. There are two spacious bedrooms, Les Lys has a double bed and opens onto a balcony. Where you will find table, chairs, flowers pots, and overlooks the petit jardin clos. The decorating consists of large expressionistic lilies which are painted on the doors and walls.

The large bedroom, opposite, overlooks the Rue Porte Neuve and is furnished with antiques. Among them are two large single beds. This room is beautifully painted with a mural of classic nudes studies.

The house has central heating with the towns natural gas. It is always warm and toasty in the winter due to the thick 13th Century stone walls.
