This beautiful restored farmhouse sleeps 10 and is set in 11 acres of private gardens, fields and woodland, approached from the road over a small stream and down a private drive of weeping willows.

L’Ile du Redge is a very spacious, light and airy farmhouse renovated to the highest standards. It consists of a Living Kitchen fully equipped with fridge freezer, cooker, microwave and dishwasher. Designed as a cafe style kitchen the shelves are open plan and there are beautiful cool marble surfaces. It is compact and easy to use. There is a dining table for 6 and a further dining table for four in the conservatory.

Leading up from the kitchen is a staircase to two of the bedrooms and a bathroom.

The lounge is at the far end of a large double height hall way with galleried landing area. A second set of stairs lead up to a double bedroom.In the lounge itself there is a luxury leather sofa seating 5 and a further 3 wing-backed chairs.For entertainment a 42” flat screen TV with Freesat and a DVD player.

A door in the corner leads to the utility room and downstairs toilet and along into the triple bedroom with modern bathroom. A further set of stairs lead to the attic room where there is a sofa which makes up into a double bed. Here you can step out onto a small verandah where there are stunning views across the gardens and surrounding countryside, a lovely place to sit quietly or read a book. This part of the accommodation also has a gas hob and fridge so can be independent from the rest of the house.

Along the front of the property there is a large conservatory, with seating and table and chairs.Most of the full length windows slide back to give an indoor outdoor feel. It is always warm and bright in here so you have the advantage of relaxing in the warmth if it is windy outside.

The farmhouse sleeps 10 and has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

A king, a double, a single bedroom and a shower room on the upper floor.

The adjoining guest suite has a large bedroom (sleeps 3) with both a king-sized and a single bed, with separate bathroom.

Above in the attic a bed-sitting room (sleeps 2) with DVD and small roof top verandah with far reaching views of the sunflower fields and plum orchards.

All towels, bedding, hairdryers and fans are included in the rental, but please bring your own pool towels.A cot and a highchair are also provided.

The farmhouse is set in 11 acres of private gardens, fields and woodland, approached from the road over a small stream and down a private drive of weeping willows.

There is a small private lake which is a wonderful place to relax and watch the green frogs, crayfish, butterflies and dragonflies and to see more of the native wildlife.

You can cool off in the shaded woodlands and look for wildflowers and smell the wild mint underfoot, or relax on a cushioned sun lounger by the enclosed private swimming pool overlooking the lake and woodland.

Later enjoy a BBQ on the raised patio area to the front of the house for al fresco dining.

L’Ile Du Redge is situated approximately 30 minutes south of Bergerac.

We found L’Ile 18 months ago and loved its unique position and feeling of warmth and belonging. We have lovingly restored it to a high standard of comfort, whilst keeping a French feel to the property. We hope you will enjoy your stay and leave with as many lovely memories as we have.

Situated near Cancon and close to Monflanquin and Villeneuve sur Lot surrounded by rolling hills of sunflowers, plum and hazelnut orchards. You are welcome to help yourselves to the fruits and nuts in the orchard during your stay.

South West France and the Lot et Garonne, in particular, has been described as the French Tuscany and is renowned for sunflowers, 13C medieval Bastide villages, rivers, vineyards, castles and miles of unspoilt scenery.

The area has many good restaurants; the Resto Du Lac being about 3 minutes away by car, serves pizza and pasta and you can sit out and feed the two resident swans.

There is a natural swimming lake at Lougratte, 7 minutes away by car, which is warm and has a sandy beach, swings, slides and pedalos for children and ice cream too!

Most of the local villages have a market day and night markets during July and August. They also hold evening bodegas, where the whole village gets together for a street party with wine, barbecue and entertainment. A favourite market is the Sunday morning market at Issigeac (25 kilometres).

There are many historical places to visit from chateaux for wine tasting to the Bastide town of Monflanquin (13 kilometres) which is named in the “most beautiful villages in France” and set high on a hilltop with magnificent views.

We have already mentioned Issigeac, but Monpazier (43 kilometres) is another of the “most beautiful villages in France”. Both of these towns hold medieval weekends and chariot races, along with Villereal (27 kilometres) which has a stunning medieval market hall, cafes and for the cyclist, a bike hire shop. Issigeac and Beaumont du Perigord also have antique fairs.

Don’t forget Bergerac (35 kilometres) to the north that still has a lovely part of the old town, which escaped destruction, to visit and also modern designer shopping.

Your other larger town is Villeneuve Sur Lot (20 kilometres) to the south; this has the Lot running right through the middle and three separate bridges across, both old and new. Being a larger town this has all the facilities you would expect, markets, shops, dining etc.

There is a golf course on the way to Villeneuve and horse-riding near both Lougratte and Monflanquin.

Details of all the above and more can be found at the local tourist office in Cancon (5 mins by car). Cancon is your village and has two small supermarkets, banks, post office, doctors, bars etc. It also has a market on Monday mornings and its own bodega during the summer months.

All towels are provided except pool/outdoor towels.

Please do not smoke inside the house and remove any cigarette stumps ash etc from the outside and garden areas.

Unfortunately we are not able to accept pets, the property being open to adjoining farm fields.

Termes et conditions

Provisional booking is reserved 7 days whilst waiting for deposit money.

Payment of 25% at time of booking, remaining 75% 8 weeks before holiday commences.Payment to be made out to cheque or bank transfer.

If the holiday is cancelled before final payment is due the initial deposit will be refunded if we are able to re-book the property, less the difference if we are forced to re-let the property at a lower rate because of the late notice.

No refunds can be made for cancellations in the last 8 weeks prior to the start of your visit. We highly recommend you take out travel insurance for such an eventuality.

A refundable security deposit of £500 should be paid by separate cheque at the time of final payment. The deposit will be returned after inspection at the end of your stay, minus any charges for damages.

The prices quoted include a final cleaning/laundry charge of £100 if the property is left in the same condition as it is found (kitchens and bathrooms cleaned with the cleaning products provided, floors swept, beds stripped, bins emptied, recycling removed etc).

If it is necessary to be re-cleaned then a further £100 will be deducted from your deposit.
