Description

Chez Chloe has south facing views over the Charentes countryside and has two good size bedrooms, one with double bed and one single bed and bunk beds. The second room will therefore sleep 3 children. The cottage has been renovated to a high standard but still maintains all the charm of property in the area. The two bedrooms still have the exposed oak beams that add to their character.

The Lounge
A comfortable lounge is equipped with UK satellite TV, DVD player, and a CD player. A selection of music CD’s, some board games and books are also provided. There is also a hard wired fast internet connection.

Bedrooms
The bedrooms are both south facing and catch all the sunshine on offer in this the second sunniest region of France. The views are over arable farm land where sunflowers and grapes are important crops.

Bathroom
The family bathroom is equipped with basin, WC and a large shower cubicle. This shower has a deep base to form a bath for young children.

The cottage has its own private fenced patio area, with outside table and chairs, a sun shade and a BBQ.

Swimming Pool
This cottage shares a 10 metre [33ft] by 5 metre [16ft] heated, chlorine free swimming pool with two other small gites. The pool has a constant depth of 1.2 metres [4ft] and is fully enclosed by a wall for privacy and conforms to the very high French safety standards for pools.

The pool is surrounded by a very large patio area where ample sun loungers and parasols are provided. It has stunning views over the local countryside.

Area description

Montendre (8kms west)
Our local little town, has two supermarkets and a street market on Thursday morning. During July and August the highlight of the week is the evening market [marche nocturne] on Tuesdays, here you can eat and shop at the same time and watch the free street entertainment, bliss.

Jonzac
A very pretty small spa town (21kms north). A lovely chateaux and market place (Friday morning for the market). Also here if you fancy a change of water is a huge indoor/outdoor water park (Centre Parks style) with a beach, reasonably priced.

Cognac (49kms north)
Very famous for, yes you guessed it, Cognac and you can visit various distilleries to discover how it's made. Don't miss the town centre however as it's great for shopping and admiring the architecture. It also hosts a great music festival in June.

Bordeaux (65kms south)
A big city but there is a Park and Ride which uses the tram network making it a very enjoyable day out. Superb architecture and various wine tours just in case you crave some bustle.

Royan and St Georges-de-Didonne (77kms west)
Boasts a super sandy beach and a well kept zoo.

St Emillion (70kms south east)
Very famous for its wine and a lovely little town to visit.

La Rochelle (147kms north west)
A gorgeous port with lovely streets and an interesting Aquarium.

The Dune de Pyla and Arcachon (135km south)
Arcachon is a superb chic coastal town, sandy beaches and a long promenade full of restaurants and shops. The dune is a bit further round the coast and is the largest sand dune in Europe, doesn't sound very exciting on paper but it is breath taking.
