Chateau de Mairie is a beautiful 17th Century Monument Historique set in 10 hectares of lovely gardens and wooded grounds with its own private chapel.

The gardens were designed by Le Notre, who was a famous garden architect in his day and well known for the gardens he created at Versailles. The chateau has had an interesting past: it was visited by Charles II whilst he was in exile, and occupied by the Germans during World War II. Now it has been restored, sympathetically decorated, and furnished using traditional colours and antiques.

There are a lot of open fireplaces to relax in front of in winter, and some pretty spots in the grounds where you can while away sunny afternoons. For the more active, there is a small beach on the Marne River, just 200 yards or so away, tennis in the village, plenty of lovely walks and cycle paths to explore, and horse riding close by.

The resident owners are on hand to give you any information about the area, or to prepare breakfasts or other meals if you wish. The guests see as much or as little of the owners as they choose, as they have a completely private wing of the chateau with no shared facilities.

Chateau de Mairie

The chateau is available to hire on a self catering basis for up to 23 people in ten bedrooms with eight bathrooms.

Ground Floor

From the moment you enter the chateau, you will find yourself captivated by its beauty and grandeur. The large entrance hall offers seating for quieter moments, and also houses the magnificent grand piano which guests are encouraged to play.

The impressively decorated main salon has lots of comfy sofas, an open fireplace, plenty of tables and chairs for card and board games, an ipod docking system and the billiard table.

The dining room (with seating for up to 24) has a lovely open fireplace, while the kitchen (large breakfast table, three electric ovens, plenty of gas hobs, fridge, freezer, two dishwashers and all the gadgets you would expect) is a cooks delight. There is also a downstairs WC and laundry room.

The chateau also benefits from a Wi-Fi internet connection.

First Floor

On the first floor you will find two interconnecting double bedrooms, sharing a bathroom with bath and shower, and separate WC. There is a large double bedroom with extra single bed, and en-suite shower room. A twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and a double bedroom with extra single bed and en-suite bathroom.

Also on this floor is a stunning huge double bedroom (the Bridal Suite) with extra single bed and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower cubicle. There are two further double bedrooms each with their own en-suite shower rooms, and interconnecting double and twin bedrooms, which share a bathroom with bath and shower, and separate WC.

We have additional baby travel cots if needed, at no extra charge.

Explore the impressively designed grounds, which extend to 10 hectares and include some beautiful, quiet, sunny spots. There are plenty of outside tables and chairs, a gas BBQ and of course the marquee.
