The Chateau de Champ Carre Estate
This magnificent 19th century château and estate, located 5 minutes from Beaune, in the heart of the Burgundy vineyards, is ideal for holidays with family and friends, weddings and other special occasions. The Estate also includes two cottages for the guests to use as well.

The chateau was originally the home of the very first wine family in Burgundy, the Champy family. The current owner, who is passionate about architecture, history and renovations, has spent the last 10 years lovingly restoring the château. Many of the original features remain in place, and today, the château retains all the charm, character and authenticity of the 19th century, alongside all the necessary modern creature comforts.

The chateau is the perfect base from which to visit Beaune and the surrounding region, discover the vineyards and wine cellars of Bourgogne, go cycling, hot air ballooning or simply relax by the swimming pool in the tranquility of the park.

Area description

Whilst staying at Chateau Champ Carre you have the opportunity to discover a region rich in artistic and cultural wealth.

The stunning walled town of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, is located just a few short miles from the chateau. Its spectacular architectural heritage, which dates to pre-Roman times, includes the hospices of Beaune, the wine museum, and the Marey museum.

The collegial of Notre Dame, a stunning church built between the 11th and 15th centuries, is well worth a visit and is noted for the size of its entrance hall and impressive tapestries. Once a year, the town plays host to a fine wine auction, and as you would expect in the regions wine capital, cellar visits can be arranged too.

The city of the hundred bell towers, and the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy, is also within easy travelling distance. In Dijon you will find the Museum of Fine Arts, the Cathedral of St Benigne, the Church of Notre Dame and many more interesting tours.

Dijon is of particular interest to gourmands, also the home of fine mustard with several excellent tours available where you can sample the regions produce.

The Local Area
Vineyards are the pride of the Bourgogne, and the villages of Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Puligny Montrachet are all located nearby for you to discover.

Walking tours
One of the best ways to experience the fabulous local scenery is on foot. Some of the best walking tours include St Romain le haut, Santenay chemin des 3 croix and the Chateau de la Rochepot.

Local Activities
There are a number of activities located locally to the chateau. Golfers will find a superb golf course at Levernois, while for keen cyclists, the route from Beaune to Santenay is not to be missed. Also available in the area are hot air ballooning, helicopter rides, horseback riding and fishing, plus much more to discover.
